DM Kargil impose Section 144 in Kargil

KARGIL, MAY 08, 2021: District Magistrate and Chief Executive Officer LAHDC Kargil, Santosh G Sukhadeve in a fresh order on Friday has imposed Section 144 of CrPC 1973 in Kargil. The DM took the move in view of rising Covid-19 cases in the District.

An ORDER No. 1 DMK of 2021, DATED: 07.05.2021 read that on the basis of an assessment conducted by the District Administration Kargil regarding sudden spike in the number of COVID-19 positive cases which are being reported.

On the basis of the said assessment and “under the directions of the State
Executive Committee, Ladakh Disaster Management Authority order No. 19-DM(UTL) of 2021 Dated:30.03.2021, I, Santosh Sukhadeve, IAS, District Magistrate/Chairman, District
Disaster Management Authority, Kargil in exercise of the powers conferred upon me
under section-34 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005 and section 144 of CrPC, 1973 do hereby order that” there shall be complete restriction on the gathering of more than four
persons at public places.

“Social/Religions/Academic/Entertainment/Educational/Cultural/Religious gathering/Political Functions and other congregations shall be permitted outside the containment zones upto a ceiling of 25 persons only or 50% of the hall capacity, whichever is less (in case of indoor spaces).

“…Such gathering will be permitted upto a ceiling of 50 persons or 50% of the capacity of the space with social distancing, whichever is less ( in case of open space) and up to 20 for funerals with the prior permission from the office of the undersigned/SDM in the sub-division as mandated under COVID-19 guidelines issued by Ladakh Disaster Management Authority vide order no. 19 DM9UTL of 2021. dated:30.03.2021.

Pertinent to mention that, as per the media bulletin released by the Directorate of Health Services UT Ladakh last night, a total of 114 new positive sample reports of Covid-19 were received on Friday. Out of the total positive reports, 89 reports were received by CMO Leh and 25 positive sample reports were received by CMO Kargil.
